Gun Gale Online» (ガンゲイル・オンライン Gangeiru Onrain?) is an American-made
VRMMOFPS that emphasizes on gun usage. It utilizes
FullDive technology to set players inside a post-apocalyptic world situated in a spaceship. It is the setting for
Sword Art Online light novel volumes 5 and
6. One of the main events in GGO is the multi-player versus player tournament known as the
Bullet of Bullets.
Gameplay Basis
The basis of gameplay is on increasing levels which in turn increase
stats which are increased based on player's choices. These stats
determine how a character plays and operates in the game, the interval
selection can not be altered later, so players must know how they wish
to develop in long-term. Also, in place of guilds and parties it uses a
squadron-type team play.
Stats
- AGI (Agility) - determines movement speed of a character
- VIT (Vitality) - determines health of a character
- DEX (Dexterity) - determines accuracy of a player and ability to hit targets
- STR (Strength) - determines the carrying capacity and ability to wield certain guns
- DEF (Defense) - determines the defense of a player
Skills
As many other VRMMO, it also has a system of skills, most of them are
related to the weapons the player use, while others are used to create
weapons such as «knife creation» and «weapon creation» skills.
Guns
- Optical weapons - firing light-based ammunition, they are used
primarily to hunt mobs. Against players, they have decreased
effectiveness, and can be negated with some equipment.
- Live-fire weapons - meant for player to player battles they are capable of ignoring most counters meant for optical weapons.
Log-out
Gun Gale Online utilizes the soul-less logout like
ALO,
where the user can immediately log-out in safe zones, but in the field
the body remains soul-less for a period of time and then the user is
logged out. In the soul-less state the user can be killed and their
items stolen.
Servers
Since its launch, up to the first Bullet of Bullets they used unified
servers. After the first BoB, the servers were divided in American and
Asian, making players unable to cross from one server to another, but
the servers were unified again for the fourth BoB.
